Step OneStep 1: Clean the Roof Surface

Use Xylene (Xylol) or isopropyl alcohol where the guards are to be attached to clean the surface. Do not allow the cleaner to come in contact with the guard.

Step 2: Apply Adhesive

Step Two

Cut the tip of the Surebond SB-190 adhesive nozzle in a broad fashion and smear the adhesive evenly across the entire base of the guard. The SnoJax II and IceJax have special interchangeable bases to straddle a minor rib. If there are no minor ribs, the flat surface should always be down. Ensure the adhesive will uniformly cover the complete underside of the base, and provide an adequate squeeze-out around the entire perimeter when the guard is set in place. If straddling a minor rib, the gap must be filled with adhesive before guard placement.

Step 3: Mount Snow Guard

Step FourStep ThreePlace the guard perpendicular to roof slope with the flat front facing toward the ridge, and press downward evenly to ensure complete adhesion. Check to ensure the adhesive has squeezed out around the entire perimeter. If necessary, run a bead of Surebond SB-190 adhesive in areas around the perimeter that may have any voids. With a rubber glove on, smooth the adhesive around the edge of the guard, creating an aesthetically pleasing, weather tight seal.

Additional Instructions:

  • SnoJax I should not be glue mounted.
  • Allow for 28 days at 50° Fahrenheit or above to obtain a full cure.
  • When adhesive mounting snow guards on a steep roof pitch, secure a string line to prevent snow guards from sliding while adhesive sets up. Adhesive typically requires 24 hours before the string can be removed.
  • Surebond SB-190 is not recommended on copper, lead-coated copper, or screw-mounted applications.
  • Always obtain a spacing layout before installation, and follow suggested layout to assure your satisfaction and validate warranty.
